It's family night at the Britt Festival, plus budget friendly entertainment, al lin this week's On the Town.
Towns all over our area offer free events on the weekends and this Friday the city of Talent gets in the mix with "summer evenings on the commons." From 5:30 to 8:30 check out the Grower's Market, local baked goods and craft booths. Listen to reggae blues music by local band "Monk" and join in the children's toy and book exchange.
Rogue Theater kicks off a new season of music this Saturday featuring slide guitarist, Roy Rogers. Rogers performs with the Delta Rhythm Kings, their eclectic concerts stretching traditional rhythm and blues boundaries.
Britt's crossing some boundaries this weekend. On Saturday night dressing up as an alien is encouraged. Saturday evening bring the kiddos in their ET. garb and see what science fiction and classical music have it common. It's the Magic Circle Mime Company performing at Britt.
But that's' not all happening at britt this weekend. Friday night internationally acclaimed violinist Midori plays Shostakovich's Violin Concerto Number 1. And on Sunday an All-American concert of Gershwin, Gould and Copland with guest pianist Jon Kimura Parker wraps up the classical season at Britt.
What's more All-American than a day at the beach? This weekend Brookings offers two days in the sun and a boardwalk teaming with artists. Take in the great weather and the work of a hundred artists this Saturday and Sunday during the Festival of Arts in Brookings. This event is free and goes from 10am to 5pm both days.
There's lots more happening on the town, check out the free events on my blog here at www.ktvl.com.
