Whether it's the triumph of a touchdown or the anguish of a bottom-of-the-ninth strike out, anyone can relate. That's what made Melissa decide that a career in sports was for her.

Her love of sports broadcasting started when she was a junior in high school doing the play-by-play announcing for the school's basketball games on the school district's radio station. Melissa went on to attend Washington State University where she received degrees in both communications and sport management.

Upon graduation from WSU she interned at Fox Sports Net Northwest in Bellevue, WA for four months and then in the sports department at KOMO, the ABC affiliate, in Seattle. The internships were a blast for her, she spent a lot of time at Safeco Field with the Mariners in the summer and in the fall she spent every Wednesday at the Seahawks' training facility for their media day.

Melissa grew up in Gig Harbor, WA so remaining in the Northwest is exciting for her. Her parents are her greatest inspiration and best role models. In her spare time she loves to get outside whether it is to go on a run, play catch or explore a new place. She also loves to catch up with her friends, shop and follow her beloved Seattle teams. Though the Seattle teams will always be near and dear to her, she's eager to report on sports in Southern Oregon and Northern California.
