The stage is set with piano, trumpet and a full orchestra as the 46th Annual Classical Season opens at Britt
this friday night after a champagne picnic catered by the Jacksonville Inn. The Classical Season opens with award winning Argentinean pianist Ingrid Fliter playing Chopin and excerpts from Prokoviev's Romeo and Juliet.
Saturday evening the Britt Orchestra features special selections by the woodwinds, percussion and brass, with special guest Alison Balsom sharing her trumpet pyrotechnics.
Sunday afternoon Britt moves to SOU. Center stage in the music recital hall the Arianna Spring Quartet and special guest pianist Anton Nel perform the music of Mozart and Dvorak.
Friday night Ashland sets the mood to enjoy the visual arts. First Friday Art Walk in Ashland starts at 5 pm. Cruise the galleries and support the arts all the while sipping wine and nibbling on hors'devors.
There are two spots to see free movies this weekend.
Friday night bring your ruby slippers to Ashland and watch the Wizard of Oz in Garfield Park. Saturday Ferris Bueller is back in the hot seat at the Bear Creek Park in Medford. Ferris Beuller's Day Off and the Wizard of Oz both start at 9 pm.
Saturday at Hawthorne Park it's all about the kids! Come and join in the fun at Kids' Day. Meet your favorite KTVL personality, watch a bike rodeo, play fun and educational games, catch some air in the jump house and go home with lots of cool, free stuff. The fun starts at 10 am at hawthorne park in Medford.
